Diamond Harlem Sparks

Diamond is a 2SLGBTQIAA+ community member, activist, ally and change agent who has tirelessly fought for the rights, protections and freedoms of racialized 2SLGBTQIAA+ citizens who have and continue to face disproportionate levels of discrimination, racism, social and economic injustice. Diamond remains a prominent voice in advocating for an increase in BIPOC 2SLGBTQIAA+ representation, support, equity, and inclusion in communities, workplaces, organizations, and institutions across Ontario to address the large-scale social and economic disparities which significantly impacts the mental and physical health and future outcomes of community members. Bringing much-needed attention to the internal stigmatization that racialized 2SLGBTQIAA+ people experience from positions of power of white and upper-class members that further marginalize and oppress people of colour.

With over 15 years of experience in confronting systemic barriers, implementing inclusion and anti-racism policies and programs ensures that our learners, participants, co-workers, and affiliated connections of intersectional identities are tailored to fit the unique needs of Black and racialized 2SLGBTQIAA+ members across our work teams, projects, and organization. Combating challenges head on and removing barriers that exclude 2SLGBTQIAA+ people from full participation and equal opportunity of social and economic outcomes in the community and society at large. Diamond will contribute to fostering an organization of diversity, equity and inclusion for current and future members creating a diverse workforce where all identities are welcomed, protected, and celebrated in a supportive and impactful manner that empowers and inspires transformational change in the lives of members; therefore, reducing the heightened bigotry at the intersection of their race and their queerness by society at large.

Diamond will advance the rights and equality of 2SLGBTQIAA+ people across our organization, working alongside our funders, partners and collaborators to create a more equitable Canada for 2SLGBTQIAA+ communities of current and future generations; with the goal of a safer and more inclusive Canada by advocating for capacity-building projects and programs that solicits grants and contributions funding for BIPOC 2SLGBTQIAA+ community organizations to stand in solidarity in its fight against racism discrimination and injustice of 2SLGBTQIAA+ citizens.
